These uniform buildings are Haussmann’s 19th-century redesign of Paris, cut through the medieval city to create wide, orderly boulevards. In the distance, the Eiffel Tower: built in 1889 as a temporary World’s Fair centre piece, became the icon it was never meant to be.
The town grew up around a 12th-century Benedictine monastery, its name literally meaning “angel’s mountain.” Today it sits quietly at the foot of the Titlis massif, the everyday bustle of parked cars and shopfronts dwarfed by the same peaks that have watched over it for 900 years.
Begun in the 13th century and repeatedly rebuilt, expanded, and blown apart by war and lightning, the ruined castle now overlooks the Altstadt below, with the Alte Brücke’s stone arches still spanning the river as they have since the 18th century
At 3,454m, this is the highest railway station in Europe, reached by a line tunneled straight through the Eiffelberg and Mönch between 1896–1912. Below stretches the Aletsch Glacier, the largest ice river in the Alps and the same sweeping backdrop familiar to fans of Crash Landing on You.

Bermuda has a long reputation as the “Isle of Devils” because of its reefs, shallow waters, hurricanes, and unpredictable weather.
1500s:Bermuda was charted by Spanish and Portuguese sailors. Its dangerous reefs were already a hazard to passing ships.
1609:The English shipSea Venturewas wrecked on Bermuda’s reefs during a hurricane while sailing toward Jamestown, Virginia. The survivors spent months on the island, an event that helped inspire Shakespeare’sThe Tempest.
1609–1612:England began permanently colonizing Bermuda. Shipwreck survivors and sailors gradually became familiar with the surrounding reefs and channels.
Bermuda’s surrounding waters contain hundreds of known shipwrecks, making it a major destination for wreck diving. Notable wrecks include the Cristóbal Colón, Mary Celestia, and Constellation

I had to drive out 2 hours out of the city to find skies dark enough (Bortle <4.0), away from the light pollution around the city, just so it’s visible.
These are not clouds you see in the picture, it’s the cluster of stars.

What struck me most from my perspective was the contrast. The bull was an incredibly powerful, majestic animal, yet there was a profound gentleness in its expression. Amidst all the heavy, ornate armor of celebration, its eye remained perfectly still, reflecting a quiet dignity.For me, that is the true spirit of World Photography Day. It isn’t just about finding a beautiful subject; it’s about using a camera to slow down a chaotic world, revealing the quiet, beautiful stories that usually pass us by in a flash.
