Editor’s Note – June 2024

It is the middle of the year and a good time in general to pause and take a review of how it has passed so far and also the plans for the rest of the year. In our work lives this pause is reiterated via mid year performance appraisals process and on the personal side by the International Yoga Day. Personally, this time resonates as a time for a well balanced holistic review.

The appraisal process provides an official permission to dwell on the career goals, progress, accomplishments and missed goals, and to do something about them. It also requires us to make time to contemplate about the team’s accomplishments; connect with them, have meaningful conversations, realign where gaps may have arisen and as a result prepare for the rest of the year with renewed energy and focus. Over the years, I have become highly appreciative of this opportunity provided by the mid year appraisal cycle.

Similarly, even though yoga practice is an integral part of my daily life,  International Yoga Day serves so well to provide that pause to appreciate the offerings of yoga, refreshing not only the perspectives on wellness but also values that ensure a life of contentment, gratefulness and authenticity through its ancient knowledge and teachings.

It is more often than not easy to get caught up in our day to day routines, lose the depth, the focus because we become habituated and continue in a semi automated mode. These events offer the opportunity and space to stop, connect, think and then continue, either with a reaffirmation or a modification of the direction we are moving. I hope you are leveraging such opportunities appropriately as they serve us to live in a more mindful and conscious manner.

Wishing everyone a great summer, making lasting memories with family and friends.
