Groupsoft’s Festive Reflection: Christmas Unites in Joy and Gratitude
Christmas is a holiday that has both religious and secular significance. For Christians, it is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. For non-Christians, it can be a time of sharing love,
joy, and peace with family and friends, as well as appreciating the freedom of different spiritual beliefs and traditions. Many non-Christians celebrate Christmas as a show of
respect for other faiths, or to celebrate the outgoing year with gift-giving and parties. Interestingly, Christmas was not a holiday in the United States until the 19th century,
when it became influenced by the customs of immigrants from Europe, who celebrated by decorating trees, sending cards, and giving gifts. In 1870, the US government declared Christmas a federal holiday, making it an official part of American culture. India also celebrates Christmas with great enthusiasm and joy. Although the Indian Christian population is relatively small compared to other religions, I recall when working there it is still a colorful and bright festival as local stores, markets, and malls display multi-colored twinkling lights, paper streamers, and flowers.
Here at Groupsoft, let’s keep with the spirit of Christmas by being thankful for family, friends, customers, and one another, and to get some well-earned time off to re-energize for an even better 2024.
