Editor’s Note

Month of October is sort of a kick off month for festivities and celebrations – the Puja festival, Vijayalakshmi, Halloween, the world cup and so on. It brings on a spirit of joy along with a sense of belonging and community.

We put aside our differences, cultural or even personal and participate  in each other’s celebrations with food, music, dance, fine dresses and get-togethers. For these precious few days we clean, we shop, cook, and prepare to invite and entertain, we bring out our  best from the closets and are at our most hospitable. We open our doors and kitchens, warmth flows in our interactions as we offer sweets and gifts.

These sweets and gifts are a way of expressing that we care, to say that you are a valuable presence in our lives and that you are appreciated. This is to convey good wishes, overcome grudges and disagreements, and to pray for peace and prosperity at a collective level.

In the midst of the humanitarian crisis that the world is witnessing at Gaza, let us renew our commitment to these sentiments. As we approach Deepavali, Thanksgiving and Christmas, let us stay mindful of the true spirit of festivity and community. Let’s not allow humanity, kindness and duty of service to be lost in the need to fulfill our individual ambitions. Let us at Groupsoft promise to take care of each other, nurture our children and try to build a place that is progressive and uplifting.
