Celebrating National Intern Day at Groupsoft

Created by the company ‘WayUp’ in 2017, National Intern Day is a holiday dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the future leaders of the world: interns!

National Intern Day is always the last Thursday in July. This year, it falls on July 27, 2023.

In honor of National Intern Day, we invited our current and past interns and trainees to reflect on their experiences and share their thoughts with us.

Their valuable responses serve as a testament to the transformative power of internships.

What about your internship is/was the most surprising to you (i.e., what did you least expect going into the experience) and what lesson(s) can you draw from this?

“The most surprising thing in this training period has been the beautiful blend of skills the team has. I have been able to reach out to all the senior team members whenever I needed support in learning something new or trying out a different approach – my team guided me and gave me an environment to learn and grow.” – Rohit B

“My internship at our company was a rollercoaster of surprises! From day one, I least expected the sheer level of trust and responsibility bestowed upon me. It taught me that no matter your position, every idea matters, and with trust comes the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute in unimaginable ways.” – Shivangi Krishna

Describe the most valuable skill or knowledge you gained during your internship and how it will benefit your future career.

“During my internship, I joined as an Angular developer, where I worked on small projects on Notification Engine and Hourstock, where I gained knowledge on developing and maintaining web applications and coordinated with the back-end developers in the process of integrating the APIs. I got the opportunity to learn about different domains, such as Testing Compliance Cart and Hourstock and gained knowledge of analyzing application requirements, creating test cases, and executing those test cases. I even got an opportunity to learn about Microstrategy and POS applications, where I gained knowledge on retail. These skills will benefit me as I work on different platforms and domains.” -Deepali Patel

What advice would you give to future interns joining our organization?

“My advice to future interns joining our organization is to be open to new opportunities and learn from your peers, especially more experienced team members. Communicate with them, take responsibility for your work, manage your time well, and maintain a positive attitude. Seek feedback and reflect on your experience for personal and career growth”. – Indrayani Pawar

“Stay curious, question everything, seek feedback, and build relationships.” – Piyush Sharma

Reflect on the overall impact of your internship experience on your personal and professional development. How has it shaped your career goals and aspirations?

“Professionally, it provided me with real-world exposure to the field of backend development and allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in my studies. This experience has solidified my passion for software development and affirmed my career goals in pursuing a path as a backend developer. Personally, it boosted my confidence in my technical abilities, improved my problem-solving skills, and enhanced my ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Overall, my internship experience has shaped my career goals by providing clarity, direction, and the motivation to continue growing in this field.” – Piyush Sharma

“The environment and overall work culture are the best parts of working at Groupsoft. I really loved and appreciated the leadership style of my managers. All my mentors were really encouraging and gave us creative freedom from the very start, which in turn helped me broaden my perspective by thinking outside the box and being experimental in my approach.” -Niharika Bishnoi
